On November 16 and 17, Bangkok is hosting VERY FESTIVAL, a 2-day international music festival with 20 fantastic musical performances from 20 artists. The festival is organized by THE VERY – a media and entertainment company, and it will take place at the DC Arena (find out more about the Very Festival at their event page).

Confirmed artists are The Kooks, Nothing But Thieves, Sticky Fingers, FKJ, Tahiti 80, Sun Rai, Joan, Telex Telexs, Whal & Dolph, Safeplanet, My Life As Ali Thomas, Getsunova, Fever, The LaFontaines, Shame, The Marias, Pale Waves, and more.

Since the line-up is quite extensive, we picked three bands that have caught our attention with their original, powerful and energetic sounds: Scottish band – LaFontaines, Brighton-based band – The Kooks, and a band from Essex – Nothing But a Thief.

La Fontaines

Proving themselves one of the most exciting bands to emerge from Scotland in recent years, The LaFontaines deliver a unique sound that fuses the guitar swagger of Kasabian, the edgy hip-hop delivery of The Streets and the electronic-pop undertones of Twenty One Pilots to create a style that pushes the boundaries of rock.

Junior is the band’s third album and follows 2017’s Common Problem and their 2015 debut Class, which saw them hit #1 in the Indie Breakers Chart and make the Top 10 in the Scottish chart.

The Kooks

The Kooks have been marked as “one of the biggest British indie bands of the last decade” have been on the music scene since 2006, the era of indie music renaissance.

The Kooks broke into the musical mainstream with their debut album Inside In/Inside Out (2006). The album was ultimately successful, achieving quadruple platinum status in the UK within a year and also overseas in the form of a platinum certification in Australia and two times platinum in Ireland. The Kooks found themselves entering into mainstream media attention, with the band winning the award for Best UK & Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006 and picking up a nomination at The Brit Awards for the single “She Moves in Her Own Way“. Their latest album “Let’s Go Sunshine” has a particular mix of the brit-indie sounds of the early ’00s with a particular strain of blues and jazz.

Nothing But the Thiefs

Nothing But Thieves are an English alternative rock band, formed in 2012 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The band pulls inspiration from the punchy hard rock of Foo Fighters and the soulful melancholia of Jeff Buckley,

They describe their second album titled “Broken Machine” as “a metaphor for systems that seem perfect on the surface but cracked underneath, whether that’s mental health, love, religion, or even politics” (source).
