About

ONE OF THE MOST ORIGINAL SPOTS IN BANGKOK LIVE MUSIC SCENE
THAT SIMPLY SCREAMS FABULOUS!

The Entrance to Maggie Choo’s has been compared to a tiny Cantonese restaurant reminiscent of the prohibition era of 1930s Shanghai but once you venture behind the curtain a whimsical world with exotic beauties awaits.

Tucked away beneath the vibrant veneer of Bangkok’s bustling streets is a hidden world where Maggie recreates the glamour and vibe of her beloved 1930’s-Shanghai speakeasy. You’re invited to spend the night with Maggie and her girls but bring your dancing shoes and leave your inhibitions at the door.

Every evening until 12 am (except Sundays), Maggie Choo’s hosts a variety of the best live music in Bangkok including the Grammy-award winner Keithen Carter  and the masters of blues Chai and The Blues Maniacs ft. Nurse . After 12 am, you can dance the night away with top DJs till the closing times. In addition, there are always special extraordinary events like Queen Victoria’s Cabaret Closet Wednesdays, Chocolates & Champagne party, Singer Songwriter Night, and more, while the Sundays are reserved for the most fantastic drag queen show headed by the fairest of them all, the amazing Pengina Heals!

Coming to Maggie Choo’s is a unique experience that cannot be described by mere words, one must be there to fully appreciate the uniqueness of it all! So, if you still haven’t had the pleasure to go down the stairs to a noodle shop that leads to a mysterious black curtain that will change your world once you open it and walk through, the only thing we have to say to you is: WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!

The Story

Maggie Choo’s was named after Shanghai cabaret owner who fled her hometown in 1931 following the Japanese invasion that tore the city. Shortly after arriving in Bangkok, she found a 19th century Thai Chinese shoe box restaurant crammed into a basement 10 meters below Silom road serving authentic Thai Chinese shop-house food.
When one day, she discovered behind the walls in the corner of the restaurant an entrance that lead to a derelict 19th century East India company bank built in 1847 used for storing porcelain and spices that the British used to carry back to England for Queen Victoria, her past caught up with her and she converted the old bank into a cabaret, just like when she used to back in Shanghai.
