Papa Benz (Naronchai Jutgrabuanpol) is a singer and guitarist with a very powerful and energetic style, mostly playing blues and jazz. He learned to play guitar from CDs when he was 15, first playing Thai acoustic songs, then later he got hooked on western music, his first encounter with blues being Eric Clapton. Last year he competed in the Voice of Thailand, where he reached the knock out round, singing Sweet Home Chicago. “People were surprised, as blues is still not so common with the Thai audience, and they accepted me.” He plays with his band – Papa Benz Trio, and he is frequently cooperating with some of the best Thai and expat blues musicians in Bangkok, like Chai and the Blues Maniacs, Yamin, The Vintagers, and many more. He teaches guitar in his free time.
